Twice a year, my mom and I go to Atlanta for the huge wholesale show where all the store owners/buyers go to order their goods. It’s a great way to see new trends, get display inspiration, and map out a plan for future seasons. Last week, we took the trip again to pick out our Christmas decor for 2016. We ordered lots of cool things that are coming now too, including some modern farmhouse items!! Yaaay, we think you guys are going to love it!
I really hate to fly. Is anyone else like that? I know it’s safe but I spend the entire flight sweating and gripping the armrest. The only thing that helps me is knowing we will quickly land in Atlanta where the possibilities of awesome stuff for the store awaits!
In the picture I took from our hotel above, you can see that Market is actually 3 huge buildings with bridges that cross over.(but only at completely random floors which makes it the most confusing place ever)
We usually stay for about 5 days so we can fit everything in. It takes a long time to see everything, especially if you carry decor, gift items, and jewelry like we do. We start every morning at 9am when they open and go until either 6pm or 8pm depending on how late they’re open.
We only had an hour and a half the first day because our flight got in late so we looked a little and headed back to the hotel. Ummm, let me tell you, I was completely freaked out when I saw our hallway to our room. It immediately reminded me of a scary movie…..
Thankfully, the inside of our room was nice so I was able to sleep! The next day, we began our intense search for the best new goods for you guys!
The first thing we had to do was to order for Fall and Christmas. It’s a little hard to get excited about Christmas in January but I will say that it’s a good time because I can remember what our customers liked! Here’s a little bit of what we saw and ordered:
As far as Christmas, one thing that was different from last year was that we saw a lot of farmhouse influence for the holidays. Some was pretty and understated and some was…well…a little TOO farmhouse. Here are some of our favorite things that we ordered for this look-
As The White Rabbit, we obviously have to do a snowy, white look for Christmas. It’s basically our favorite theme!
Since the colors of the year for 2016 are Rose Quartz and Serenity, both pastels, we had to order some pretty pastel colored Christmas.
As we were browsing the fun, whimsical showroom above, we spotted a man holding a real chicken! She was SOOOO cute! And talk about something you don’t expect to see at Market!
I got to pet Dolly and she was super soft, like a bunny. Did you guys know that chickens make a good pet??
Ok, Ok, I’m sure you’re tired of seeing Christmas stuff so let’s get to the fun part; the things that are coming now! Many of you have been telling us that you want to see more modern farmhouse, Joanna Gaines style, in the store. Well we listened and we’re excited about it. Here’s some of what we saw and ordered.
We ordered a lot more farmhouse pieces than what I’ve shown in the pictures but it gives you an idea of what will be in the store in the next few weeks!
We also ordered other styles to mix with our farmhouse look and our vintage furniture.
Here are some pictures of displays in the showrooms. It’s so hard to choose what to get!
We can’t get enough of cute bar carts and the price on this one made it a MUST HAVE! We actually have 3 styles coming that will all be under $200!
Sometimes we order upholstered pieces at Market because it’s hard for us to find vintage upholstered pieces in good shape or too expensive to reupholster them. We found 3 pieces we liked.
Metallics including gold were still really prevalent at Market. Gilded items used to only be in the high end showrooms but we’ve been finding them at reasonable prices lately. Woot!
On the last couple days of Market(the saddest days!) we go through floors and floors of temporary booths with smaller vendors and the cash and carry section which is mostly jewelry. As you can see below, cash and carry is always so busy. I hyperventilate in there because people push their way through and they’re just grabbing everything frantically.
My mom and I have been looking for some pretty linen bedding for a while and we finally found some duvet covers.
We saw a lot of jewelry and gift items, though I didn’t get many pictures. I did get a photo of these keychains and necklaces we ordered! Aren’t they pretty?
This Market was pretty amazing. We feel really good about what we ordered for Christmas. I think it’s just what our customers want! Also, the items we got for now are already starting to come in and getting rave reviews! It’s so fun to get the shipments and then combine them with our vintage pieces to create a look that is fun and updated, not to mention different than what you’d see in large retailers. Stop in soon and see!
P.S. We are posting all the new things as they come in on Facebook and Instagram so don’t forget to visit us there!
